Session Title: Prototyping at Scale: Designing Future Cars!

Start your morning with a fast-paced, interactive, and fun prototyping workshop! Explore what is possible when we hand you a full-size model car and work together to bring your ideas to life. In this workshop, we’ll demonstrate how you can stick out your hand for a direct physical interaction and realize: “No this won’t work. I can’t reach that button. Let’s move it.” Anything you can imagine, add it! Want a touchscreen? Draw it! At Cantina, we believe it’s important to prototype as a vital part of the product development cycle. It’s not enough to merely have an idea: you need to create something that allows you to feel, experience, experiment, and test it to get it right.

Session Title: Turning Pixels into Insights

What would you do with ground truth information? Imagine you knew exactly how many solar panels were on houses in the Greater Boston area. Could that better inform the research you’re conducting? Or if you could access the number of high rise apartment buildings being constructed in a city, could your real estate business excel? If you were able to detect the real-time rates of deforestation in a given country, would you make better investment decisions?

FeatureX is disrupting the field of satellite image analysis, making it easy to answer questions like the ones above.  Our semantic deep learning technology enables our systems to understand the fundamental structure of images and then regenerate them in new ways.  This allows our clients to extract more insight from every image. Our tools help organizations build web-based applications for either internal use or for the development, sales, and deployment of SaaS applications worldwide.

To learn how FeatureX is servicing industry and community needs, come hear from our Founder and CTO, Gil Syswerda. We’ll provide demos of our technology and platforms and walk you through how we take a satellite image and turn it from pixels into business insights.

Target Audience: AI industry professionals, computer science students, AI and software engineer jobhunters, VC’s, media/press

Session Title: The Best Kept Secrets in Boston Cybersecurity

Come along to enjoy breakfast and discuss one of the hottest subjects in the tech industry.

Nestled in the heart of Assembly Row, Avecto is Boston’s best kept cyber security secret. Celebrating its 10-year anniversary, Avecto was founded by UK entrepreneurs Mark Austin and Paul Kenyon, who shared a vision of stopping cyber attacks – without stopping employee productivity. Chief Operating Officer, Andrew Avanessian, will explain how Avecto has achieved global success, now protecting more than 8 million endpoints at some of the world's largest brands from cyber attack.

Andrew has been a fundamental part of Avecto since its inception. He'll share why Avecto selected Boston as their U.S. headquarters and the reasons why investors have contributed over $1.7 billion to creating a cyber security hub in Boston.

Removing access to local admin rights is one of the best things you can do to improve security. Andrew will speak to the hidden dangers in your organization caused by the overuse of admin rights, which open the door to outside hackers and insider abuse. Using real-world examples, you'll learn about the dangers of unchecked privileges and that the solution is easier than you think.

Julie will share insights from our 2017 Patient Access Journey Report and discuss the role that technology can play in resolving the “patient access paradox” -- patients waiting too long for care, while provider capacity goes underutilized. Through a hypothetical patient scenario exploration, attendees of this session will gain an understanding of the most important criteria to them when selecting providers, have an opportunity to talk through challenges in the patient-provider matching process, and ultimately understand how provider data management plays a key role in facilitating a better experience for patients and providers.

A Password Manager? Here’s Why You Need One

With the rise of cloud apps and devices, everyone has more passwords than they can possibly keep track of, leaving many to resort to unsafe password behavior – from how they create and remember passwords, to how they share accounts with family members. The #1 reason people reset a password is because they forgot it. What if you could keep all your passwords safe and strong, but only had to remember one?

Following a quick tour of the LogMeIn office space, LogMeIn’s Rachael Stockton, Director of Product Marketing, will give attendees a look into our password management offering, LastPass, and lead a discussion around the dangers of using weak passwords, why using a browser isn’t the answer, and what secure online behavior looks like.

Session Title:  Ipswitch Employee Driven Community Service Drives Business Results

Most of us have charitable causes that drive us, motivate us and are meaningful for a wide range of reasons. Supporting these causes feels good – to help others in need and to be part of a bigger purpose. Ipswitch takes its position of responsibility to help support the people in the communities around us seriously – and we have instilled this social responsibility in our employees – for years. It not only has helped the community at large, but has built a stronger community within Ipswitch. The Ipswitch iCare program has equal focus on community-wide volunteer and giving programs as it does at the individual employee level. In 2017, the company sponsored a wide range of organizations and was proud to donate to more than 100 charities. Ipswitch also provides matching employee giving, acknowledges work-anniversary dates through charitable donations and honors growing Ipswitch families with a charitable gift close to the heart of the employee. Ipswitch shares its stories of monetary donations and support for numerous organizations but also how it created employees’ willingness to give time to organizations in need. Creating this enthusiasm has been a function of Marketing as much of a function of Human Resources. In addition to the customer, Ipswitch employees are viewed as an important target audience for Marketing – which has created successful community and retention at Ipswitch – along with helping those in need. Ipswitch shares how the company has created this positive atmosphere and encourages other companies in position to do the same.

To demonstrate how Agero is moving our industry forward, our senior Data Scientists, Software Engineers, UX experts, Business Analysts and Executives will host an open forum in our auditorium to demonstrate and discuss the ways in which we’re using machine learning, predictive analytics, and data driven intelligence to innovate on a massive scale.
This highly interactive session will provide attendees with the unique opportunity to get their questions answered by our in-house experts in the context of Agero’s business and innovations. Here are some questions to mull over before you come to our session:
  • How do you best leverage cloud technologies to build a scalable, robust application like MileUp to gather and process large amounts of data in real time?
  • How can you reliably detect and respond to a critical event in real time for an application like crash detection?
  • What are challenges of building large scale, high quality data sets for machine learning applications (when you’re not Google)?
  • What are best practices around data privacy and security in the age of big data?
This stimulating session is as much about providing answers as it is about listening to your own thoughts, so leave your shyness at the door and come prepared for a real exchange of innovative ideas… and for a tasty lunch!

Attendees are encouraged to download and use the Agero’s MileUp app prior to the event. The app is free and will serve as a real-world starting point for our conversation.

Session Title: It Isn’t What You Do, It’s How You Do It: Your Company Culture and Your Brand

Lunch will be provided during this session.

The popular understanding of a “brand” tends to identify a company with its package design or advertising. In fact, a brand consists of much more. Ultimately, it is an idea in the customer’s mind and is the product of each and every interaction with - or perception of - an organization. This session will make the case that brand identity is highly influenced by the culture promulgated by the founding team, and that the values established early in a company’s life have long-term repercussions for the company brand. Organizations that value customer- and people-centricity from the start will often emphasize action and measures such as customer calling campaigns, NPS (net promoter score), and employee engagement programs. This presentation will demonstrate how these values and their manifestations can greatly enhance perceptions of an organization.

Docent Health
Limited Capacity filling up

Hospitals have long relied on clinical excellence to differentiate their offerings to attract and retain patients. However, service and experience are beginning to play bigger roles in healthcare.  Increased market competition, the ubiquity of social media sites like Yelp, increased patient choice, and emphasis on patient satisfaction instruments like HCAHPS have compelled more organizations to emphasize a positive, holistic patient experience to engender customer loyalty and drive revenue growth.

2 years ago, Docent Health was created to tackle these issues. As we grow, we strive to imbue the values we operate by as a company, into our product. During this session, Co-Founder/SVP Royal Tuthill and COO Monna Nanavati will present a case-study for how one health system is using technology-enabled, human-driven strategies to develop enduring relationships with patientsThey will share how customer-centric design inspired their service model, and how technology is used to build customized patient experience journeys; how data from the EHR and ancillary hospital applications is aggregated and analyzed to anticipate customer needs and preferences; the results from a pilot program; and learnings on implementing and scaling such a program across large health systems.

Join us as we go through this journey together, and learn how our strong collaborative workplace culture leads us to our data-driven insights which ultimately fulfill our mission: To enable health systems to deliver rich and meaningful customer experiences, by ensuring that customers feel known, valued and heard.

Session Title:  Shaping the Future of Artificial Intelligence

Lunch will be provided at this session.

Artificial intelligence (AI) is rapidly evolving and becoming more "human". But as AI starts to pick up on human emotion, recognize unique voices, and understand what phrases and gestures mean, the practical and useful application of AI comes into question. AI is already having a fundamental impact on the way we live and work.

This session will outline what's happening today and where advances in AI will take us in the future. We’ll discuss the latest advances in technology, devices and interfaces that can bring about meaningful change – and how we humans will live and work alongside these intelligent machines.

Session Title: What Do Patients Really Need?

40% of health outcomes are tied to social drivers. Plainly put, what’s happening in someone’s life has a significant impact on their health and well-being. For example, Patient A lacks access to transportation so he’s unable to fill his prescription. Patient B misses her radiation appointments because she has no one to care for her dog.  In both of these examples, the patient’s life circumstances directly affect their ability to access proper care. And, while providers continue to achieve state-of-the-art medical advances, they have very limited tools to understand and address the needs of the whole patient. This lack of centralized support resources evokes a simple question: how do we figure out exactly what a patient needs and connect them to the right service?

Wellist was founded in 2013 as an online directory of support resources for patients and their families. Working with clients including Mass General Hospital, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, UPMC Hillman Cancer Center and MemorialCare Health System, Wellist has connected thousands of patients and families to resources including pharmacy delivery, transportation, pet care, grocery delivery and 40 other categories.  Through rigorous upfront assessments, analysis of patient populations and insight gleaned from staff interviews, we’ve discovered that what the healthcare system thinks a patient wants may have nothing do with what they need most.

Kelly Hall, our Vice President of Client Delivery, and Nikki Vance, Senior Manager of Analytics, will lead a session on Wellist’s approach to using both data and compassion to better understand and address patient needs.

Session Title: Everyone's an innovator: Why innovation requires more than "creatives"

Are you interested in innovation or have an idea, but don’t consider yourself the “creative” type? Feeling uncertain about how to keep the momentum up on an idea in your organization?

It turns out, there’s far more to innovation than just re-organizing your team, re-designing your building, or re-structuring your incentives. Innovation is not a one-size-fits-all endeavor and requires different capabilities (at all different levels) across the organization. At PA, we’re a firm of over 2,600 technologists, innovators, go-getters, strategists, leaders, developers. Our backgrounds range from finance and engineering to theology and art! Join us as we explore the variety of innovation capabilities required to get an idea off the ground (PA stories included!) and leave feeling more confident in keeping up momentum within your organization.
