Session Title: Solving Globally Impactful Problems

Join WPI Seaport for a session on creating approaches to 'Great Problems'. This session will be highly interactive. Participants will work in small groups to brainstorm approaches to solve globally impactful problems, such as Food Sustainability, Powering the World, and Accessing Clean Water.

This session will provide a glimpse into the Great Problems Seminar (GPS) offered at WPI as a two-term course that immerses first-year students into university-level research and introduces them to the project-based curriculum at WPI. The course gives students and faculty the opportunity to step outside their disciplines to solve problems focused on themes of global importance, culminating in annual Poster Presentation Days that celebrate students’ innovative research on a wide range of solutions to some of the world’s most critical challenges.

Session Title: Hands-On MakerLab Demo & Panel: How Do We *Really* Increase Representation in STEAM?

Join Brandeis Innovation for two exciting programs: First off, in our MakerLab, learn the essentials of 3D printing with this bio-tech and social enterprise focused hands-on session. Learn how to 3D print molecules and learn how students are preserving ancient artifacts, crafting prostethics, and more.

Then, at 10:30am, hear from our panel on how to really foster inclusion in STEAM. We hear so much about diversity, but how do we really foster it at all levels of the STEAM career pipeline, from K-16 through the executive level? Hear from successful leaders in academia, startups, and the corporate world on how they have fostered a culture of inclusion AND seen tangible growth in diverse candidates
